Common tray sizes of plug material are:
128,144, 288, 512.

Liners

Liners are rooted young plants that are typically propagated from stock plant cuttings. The un-rooted cuttings are stuck in rooting medium and cared for by the breeder/producer until the root system has become established and the product is ready for transportation to the grower.

Common tray sizes of liner material are: 25,36,48,72,84,51,102.

Bare Root

Bare root materials as product that have been grown by the breeder/producer with established root systems and removed from the soil for shipping to the grower. Plants shipped in this manor are typically fruits and vegetables although some tropical plants are sold in this form as well. Plants are bagged, boxed and shipped to the growers quickly.

Typically sold in multiples of 25, 48, and 100 + designed to be transplanted directly into finished containers.

Finished Material

Product that has been propagated in any of the young plant forms and grown by wholesalers in finished containers. Plants are ready for sale to the retailers who take the products directly to the consumer marketplace. Sometimes wholesalers will sell the product some weeks prior to the finished dates, this is called Pre-finished. Pre-finished material usually provides the retailer a price advantage because it gets the product off the wholesaler benches allowing wholesalers space and additional time to grow more product.
